Logo Design Brief
We seek a logo design for Digital Heritage Mapping (DHM) a 501(c)(3) non-profit in the emergent field of spatial humanities dedicated to digitally preserving global historic and cultural sites. A unique collaboration between individuals in diverse disciplines (academia, technology, arts, and social entrepreneurship), DHM melds age-old scholarship with 21st Century technology to assert the importance of physical location to the understanding of history. This actualized focus allows for a more comprehensive, interactive, and “living” reconstruction of the past than previously thought possible.
DHM, through its own initiatives as well as those of others to whom it provides services, has created a prototype for digital preservation applicable to every country, culture, and subject matter. The organization is
• Pioneering new technology and multimedia techniques for documenting historic and cultural sites;
• Leading international field expeditions to geo-locate and digitize sites, as well as record eyewitness testimony; and
• Transforming research data into dynamically new educational applications.
While all designs will be considered, our ideal logo would feature a scattering of pixels horizontally that gradually cohere to form a globe (featuring our acronym, DHM) in the center. The full name of the organization could appear below the scattered pixel line.
Designs must be optimized for Online and print publication.

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: Most of the designs thus far have been very impressive. The deadline extension is not a sign of dissatisfaction (as, unfortunately, it is with a couple of our other contests that have received no submissions. Please submit soon!). On the contrary, we are getting very close and merely extending the deadline to ensure time to consider new proposals, refine the designs we have, and answer any questions or comments.
