Logo Revision - Make existing logo better (more elegant and unique)

This is what Marsh Creek | M&A Advisors | Business Brokers was looking for in their logo design

Hello, I have the start of a logo for my firm (see attachments). I'm looking for ideas to keep this elegant and simple but make it more unique. I don't want it to be too "busy" as that will detract from what we're trying to communicate to our clients (strong, knowledgable, patient, trustworthy), but I would also like it to be more modern and unique. I like the logo's simplicity in the example files (Concept 7), and I've attached other examples for inspiration, although these all miss the mark.

The attached file (Concept 7) is my favorite so far, but the others will give you an idea of what we are trying to accomplish... although these didn't quite hit the mark. I like the beak in content 10, but the body needs work (and I think I'd like it to be filled in with black.)
