Small Building/Construction Business logo needs Funk'n up!

This is what Dan Darwen Builders Ltd (Ltd is optional) was looking for in their logo design

We need a new logo for our building / construction business, Dan Darwen Builders Limited based in Golden Bay, NZ. We are a small business with around 6 employee's, we build new homes, architectural homes, renovations/extensions, light commercial buildings, farm buildings. Golden Bay is a beautiful rural, coastal town located at the top of the South Island of NZ. It is a tourist hot spot, with a large number of the residential homes being holiday homes.
Dan Darwen Builders Ltd has been in business for about 10 years, and our current logo is for want of a better word...BORING! We need a change, we want a more professional, up to date image. We don't live in the city so don't want anything OTT, rather more simple but effective, environmentally friendly (as we live in a very "Green" community), we want to appeal to a wide range of people, we want to be seen to be approachable, friendly, down to earth, creative, quality, reliability, professional etc...
