Wordpress Design Brief
I need a wordpress design for my own personal brand. I am a business strategist and marketing coach, and I provide consulting, speaking, workshops, and coaching programs for entrepreneurs and startups. The website needs to reflect my own personal style and expertise. More information on that below.
My current website is www.garzonco.com, but other personal brand websites that I like include:
- www.chrisduckers.com - good example of "as featured in" section and call to action
- www.jeffwalker.com - sharp site with call to action and him seen as a speaker
- www.taragentile.com - check out her speaking section, also good basic style
- www.liveyourmessage.com - great video with call to action right up front
Attached are a couple images of me from speaking and working with clients. A full set of images is available at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/209031/Photos.zip (note that this is a 322 MB file). I'd like to add an element of roll-up-your-sleeves innovation which can be done in supporting images and graphics. Some examples:
- www.doblin.com - images of sticky notes and whiteboards
- www.jumpassociates.com - hand-drawn look to slider images
- www.boardofinnovation.com - images on homepage

Target Market(s)
The audience is entrepreneurs, microstartups, and small businesses under 10 employees. However, they will tend to be solopreneurs in service-based businesses like coaches and consultants trying to hit $100k. They also trend female and B2B.

Requirements
Must have
- Homepage much have an "As Seen On" section with logos of Startup Weekend, Ignite Charlotte, RevTech Labs, Queen City Forward, Collegiate DECA, and the Charlotte Observer. The Chris Ducker site above has a good example of one.
There should be testimonial boxes both large and small and with and without image.
There should be a call to action box for people to provide an email address and download an item. For now, you can use placeholder for an ebook or report, and audio file (like a podcast), and a video. Final design will need all 3.
There should be a few blog posts on the homepage and also a Work With Juan section with Coaching, Consulting, and Training sections.
Nice to have
- Depending on header image design, it may make sense to provide an above-the-menu section with a picture cutout (like Chris Ducker's) and a headline/text/call-to-action button to be seen upon arrival to the site. Scrolling down to menu below will lock menu at the top of the page. This section could be used for temporary promotions or to highlight featured items.
Should not have
- No flowery scripts. If an accent script is used, it should be whiteboard handwriting similar to the Hand of Sean font.
