Newsletter Design Brief

We need an email newsletter designed.
We will provide you with two image files that show you two different email newsletter layout. We then want you to choose one of these layouts and provide a design for that layout, if you wish you may submit a variation of each layout.
There are no restrictions on the design other than you must use our logo, which will be provided, and you must incorporate our main company colour somewhere in the design. The colour is also included in the logo design file.
If possible we do not want the design too feel too "boxy", please try to somehow make it less obvious that the newsletter is based on a grid layout.
Designs should be fairly modern and should be targeted at our audience which are students aged 18-25.
When creating your design please remain aware at all times which elements are pictures and which are text, this should be obvious from the layout images provided. Visitors will not automatically see images in most mail clients therefore the text is very important and must be well designed, eye-catching with thought out size, visibility and styling. You can use text in images used in the design however it must accompany rather than replace the text in the body.
Copy will be provided in a separate file.
The width of the newsletter is 600px.
We require the design to be provided in layered .psd files and .jpg.
You must be available to make revisions between submission and the 18.00 GMT Friday 16th January, this is when the newsletter is being distributed.

Updates
We would just like to clarify to all designers that you are only required to adhere to the layout. The style and colour scheme of the newsletter is entirely up to you and your creativity. You can use any type of imagery, use any colour scheme (providing our company colour is present) and typography that you wish.
We want you to come up with some bold and fresh that will really catch the recipients attention when they open it. Please make sure you read the copy so that you know what the email newsletter is selling, and remember this is going to students.
Submitted designs should ideally share no resemblance to the layout image provided, apart from in layout.
