Logo Design Brief

I have a business I run called "Arkay Silversmiths". I design various types of jewelry pieces out of sterling silver, gold, diamonds and colored gemstones. My primary focus is on rings, but I am slowly branching out to other types like earrings and pendants.

I sell primarily on Etsy, but would like to sell on my own web site eventually. My website is http://arkaysilversmiths.etsy.com.

I am looking for a logo that is sophisticated that can be used on various sites. I'd also like to be able to use a small version or element that could be turned into a metal stamp that would be used to brand my items (maker's mark). I currently am using the font Fortunaschwein in my banners. I like the styling, however, it is not necessary to have that specific font. I guess I am looking for a font that complements my jewelry style, but favor the Fortunaschwein right now.

I'd like a full color logo that can go by itself, but would also like to have a version of it with transparency so I can overlay it on top of product images for site banners, watermarks, etc. Color and B&W versions would be useful.

Example files:
Arkay Logo - Initial offset logo
oregon_sunstone_021 - Etsy banner
rio_grande_hot_foil_1x1 - hot foil imprint for boxes

Hello everyone! Thank your for the submissions so far, they are all very interesting and it will be fun to review them all and determine which one we'd like to go with. We'd like to add some clarification on the initial concept. The tool steel stamp we would have made which would become the maker's mark, is maybe anywhere from 1.0-1.5 mm tall by 1.5-2.5 mm wide. Here is a website with some information on making the stamps so it might give you some insight into the style. http://microstamp.us/index.php?main_page=page&id=23 Thanks and we are look forward to seeing more of your updates!

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: Extending the deadline by 5 days to give everyone a chance to come up with their best effort after getting feedback. Thanks!

One of the things I'd like to do with this logo is to be able to either use it as-is (complete with graphic and text), or break it apart and use it individually. That kind of makes for a challenge I think to have a logo that is identifiable, as well as a font that can be identifiable as well - but, I don't want the logo and the text to clash with each other.

UPDATED UPDATE: Another design consideration is the use of the logo and text in hot stamping applications. I currently have a ring box that I get hot stamped with the Arkay Silversmith text using Fortunaschwein, but due to the limited space (1.25" tall x 1.0" wide ) I split the wording on two lines to allow the font to be large enough to read easily. I'd appreciate seeing renders of your ideas where you split the text so I can visualize how it will look when reduced for printing purposes.

I've converted the project to payment committed - I've seen some really nice designs and I know I will be picking one, so try your best to be the one selected!

Hello everyone, thank for the last minute burst of creativity before the contest is over. I want to stress that I really need to have something to turn into the stamp that will go on all of my jewelry pieces. It needs to be distinct from any other vendor out in the whole world who makes jewelry. This is why I am trying to have the initials "AS" in the stamp. I also am constrained by the fact that a metal stamp that is carved to only make an impression anywhere from 1-2 mm wide by 1-1.5 mm tall will actually be readable. That tends to favor more simplistic designs because a lot of detail may be lost in the act of making the stamp and the actual act of stamping it into metal whose hardness varies.

Thank you for your designs everyone. The submission phase of the contest is over and we are currently evaluating all of the entries to make a decision. I will likely be adding a 2nd and possible 3rd place prize for some of the entries that we may be still on the fence over, so keep an eye out for our decision. Thanks!
