CVM TV in Jamaica is national, free to air broadcaster on this small Caribbean island. www.cvmtv.com
CVM is derived from "no longer relevant" business names. However the letters CVM have a recognised brand in Jamaica.
The smaller of Jamaica's 2 stations CVM is known for its news and current affairs programs.
It is a fact that media in Jamaica has been firmly stuck in the past and has not yet matured into the corporate world.
We need a new, bold, strong logo to clearly identify the brand.
We need a corporate logo and a logo for the on screen station identifier. Current logo's are uploaded. The circular coloured sphere being the "on screen" station identifier.

Must have
- • Logo must retain element of conservatism while being modern and playful
• Must be a fluid umbrella logo that can support sub-brands such as CVM After Dark, CVM Entertainment, CVM Sports, etc
• Must exclude the satellite dish element – which is now redundant given our advancement in the digital age
• Concept must not be too left field or far fetched
• Must include a descriptor (visual or verbal) which indicates that the brand operates within the media industry
• Must bear a unique element that distinguishes the logo; for example, CTV has a dot that evolves into different icons depending on the logo’s application
• Must connect with the consumers’ senses – sound and sight through strong, culturally relevant colours (Kelly, 2010), contemporary font and memorable icons
• Colours must be able to transcend across all programmes; for example, CNN, USA and ESPN are widely compatible with most of their respective programmes negating the use of several alternate coloured varieties.
Nice to have
- Flexible core logo to accomodate program names ie
CVM television (or TV) which can be CVM Sports or CVM Live by our editors/ programers simply changing the text in photoshop or in -design etc.
Should not have
- Must be clear and concise, the current sphere logo is an example of exactly what we do not want.
Nothing cartoon like.
