Web Design Brief

I am looking to relaunch a website in the New Year for a racing driver's / racing instructor portfolio. The site must be socially engaging with prominent links to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.

The site will need to feature blogs, racing results, sponsor information, instructor information, championship information (circuit and car information), image and video gallery and most importantly a driver profile.

It must be obvious that the site is a racing site so must show images of cars and driver in racing overalls and crash helmet on the site.

More images and layouts from previous site available on request.

Hello all,

If possible would designers be able to show a page like :

http://www.themesnap.com/theme-demos/woowshop/node/23
http://bold.fusiondrupalthemes.com/theme-features/typography

to show how they would style the various HTML elements like headings, paragraphs and list, call to action boxes, comments and grid layouts, slideshows and gallery/video boxes?

Thanks

Hello all designers,

I've posted a wireframe to the attachments to show roughly the sort of layout I am after. Please note this is not exactly how I want the site to look :)

But I've shown that I would like the Helmet image to be displayed top left, along with driver name and slogan underneath. I want the social media icons to be top left (although only Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn for the moment)

I would like some kind of navigation menu on the site. These link names are not set in stone yet but feel free to use these as a guideline. They will probably be a multilevel drop down so it would be nice to see this on the designs. E.G. under career it will probably need "Formula Ford, Formula Palmer Audi, Formula Renault, Britcar, Ford Fiesta, BMW Mini Cooper" as the secondary level navigation names.

I would like a large image at the top and preferably as a slideshow with a text overlay of some kind. Images and text will need to be edited in the CMS so must not be too fancy. Although any Google Font or TypeKit font can be used here or in fact anywhere on the site.

For the main content area of the site I would like to see it in a column layout because this will be a responsive layout website.

I would like to see example layouts for text, comments, paragraphs, images and other call to action boxes. Please see the style guideline links in the other comments.

The footer should have the links again and also the social media icons again.

Please feel free to ask any questions. Thanks everyone and thank you all to those who have already submitted some excellent designs.

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: Due to Xmas I've extended the deadline.

Hello

The contest is due to run out on 25/12/12 so if anyone has any designs they wish to be considered could they now get them in please!

Also to help your chances, it is advisable to show how your design could look on other screen size layouts (mobile, tablet, widescreen) and to not show a "home page" design but show how HTML elements (headings, tables, lists, blockquotes etc) would look.

Thanks to everyone.

Requirements
Must have
  • Show the design in a mobile, tablet and desktop state. It should use a grid system (http://omega.developmentgeeks.com/ will be used when building) so keep this in mind when designing.

    The Sections of the site will probably be -
    * Home
    * Profile (about me, CV, etc.)
    * Racing career
    * Racing instruction
    * Sponsors
    * Multimedia (or photo gallery and video)
    * Blog
    * Contact

    These menus will probably on multiple levels so navigation will have to reflect this.

    As for colours, the previous site was predominately orange (#ffba00) which looked good, but this doesn't mean this site should necessarily be orange.

    Images are vitally important.
Nice to have
  • Social media icons in header or footer, newsletter sign up box, image rotator / slideshow.

    Good inspiration sites:

    http://www.jensonbutton.com/
    http://www.markwebber.com/
    http://philhellmuth.com/ (Not racing site)
Should not have
  • Avoid Flash and fonts which are too cartoon like.
