Poster Design Brief
We are looking for a poster design for our new psychological thriller/horror film titled "Alarmed." Our tag line is "There is no later...). YOU WILL receive a CREDIT on the film (listed as "One Sheet Designer - your name and /or company name).
The film was shot almost entirely on a large yacht, out on the San Francisco Bay. The story centers around our protagonist, Samantha, who was accused of, but ultimately acquitted of her family's murder. The boat becomes Sam's own private hell, where our antagonist, the ship's alarm panel, clearly spells out what Sam must do to herself before the night ends - self mutilation. Night after night, but then wakes up each morning, her wounds from the previous night's "events" healed, though with hideous scars. Her "Groundhog Day." For eternity, unless she can prove that she really was not the killer - but hell doesn't make mistakes... Or does it?
The film was shot to be PG-13 - few on-screen graphical images, but more of the Hitchcock vision - you clearly know what she must do to herself before midnight, or something takes over and does it to her anyhow - but much more gruesomely...
Updates
I failed to mention that we will provide the winning designer with a listed credit at the end of the film. The credit will be listed as "One Sheet Designer" - your name.
I also updated a few things that I had failed to mention when I started the design contest, so please take a look at the updates. I uploaded one additional photo - one of the yacht that the film was shot on, during the day heading out to sea. I have asked my producer to also get us a pic of our "Man in Black" who represents something of a Satan figure as well as a close-up of the dial on the safe that Sam (our protagonist in the film) finds and believes this may be the key to escape the hell she is in.
The papers that are taped up throughout the stateroom in one of the photos - each one of these pages are the various codes that Sam has tried to use to open up the safe. It represents to the audience significant time passing as well - though Sam never ages, though she bears the scars from the previous self-mutilations.
I am the writer/director (and co-producer) of the film, so if there is any other questions I can answer, please feel free to ask away!
Also noted in the update - there are a couple short clips uploaded to YouTube. Just go to YouTube and search for my name: Matt Lofgren The clips are quite old and we have two new trailers being cut for the film right now, but I don't believe they will be ready to upload prior to the closing of this contest.
Really looking forward to seeing what kind of response we get! Many thanks again to all who have accepted the project!
Matt

Target Market(s)
Alarmed is a psychological thriller and/or horror film. People who have watched the screener have had a hard time describing it as one OR the other. I am the writer/director of the film.
There are two snippets of the film uploaded on YouTube that you can take a look at to get a better feel for the film. Just go to YouTube and search my name - Matt Lofgren and you will be directed toward the links.
The film was shot to be PG-13, meaning little actual blood and gore viewable on-screen, no "F-bombs," etc. Shot very much like an A. Hitchcock film - you know what is happening, but only in the "minds-eye."
With that being said, it is still very much a thriller/horror genre film. The woman is locked in her own personal hell that she has no seemingly escape from. Night after night the alarm panel tells her what self-mutilation act she must perform before the time ticking down is up.
She "heals" in the morning, but with obvious tell-tale signs of scaring from the night/nights, weeks and months before.
She is trying to open a safe that she discovers midway through the film, thinking that whatever may be in the locked safe, might hold the key to her salvation.
Key elements are provided in the pictures uploaded, though I will likely be uploading a few more - we have a shot (daytime) with the boat in the bay, and a shot of her turning a dial to the safe that will be uploaded.
We are looking for something that will reflect her terror, her entrapment and some of the other elements shown in the various pictures. You are NOT required to use any or all of these pics - they are for reference. Please let me know if you have any questions!
As a reminder, the winner will receive a credit in the film (whether or not we end up actually using your design - you will still receive the credit - and of course the money!).
Many thanks - Matt
