Graphic Design Brief

We need a black/white InDesign template created for our training manual. We're looking to slightly modernize the design and make it as visually appealing as possible while also remaining highly-readable and not tiring to look at at for long periods of time.

A sample chapter from our current manual is attached. - The manual overall consists of 260 pages, there are a few diagrams but the manual consists primarily of text.
