Yes,the horse, the knight, is facing the viewer and the jousting pole up a little.Imagine you're in a jousting match,what would that look like seconds before contact.What do you mean by foreshortening?

Thanks for the question.
Foreshortening is by reducing of the visual distances of surfaces not directly facing the viewer to create visual depth.
So I think some details (side portion) of the horse and knight is less visible. See this link about "foreshortening"
