Vector Design Brief
We need a "iconic" graphic to appear on the front page of a document describing a statistical database about US businesses. The database is delivered as a part of a desktop mapping application called Scan/US. Scan/US, Inc. supplies desktop mapping and demographic solutions to consultants, businesses and organizations that need user-friendly software access to consumer markets, and characteristics that drive them.
First few pages of the document is attached as a pdf file. The graphic would appear in the lower left corner of the front page.
Updates
I have uploaded a revised version of the pdf which indicates the location of the proposed graphic.

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: So far only one design of two submitted has some merit. But it also has flaws that need to be addressed before it can be considered acceptable. These flaws were communicated to the designer

Requirements
Must have
- The graphic should be sufficiently modular to be able to substitute elements appropriate for representation of some other subject matter database on the front page of another document.
For example, the graphic should be adaptable to represent a database of population demographics by symbol reference to "people", "families/households", "income/money", "school/education", "house/housing".
Nice to have
- The design might implement professionally the concept idea sketched in the attached png file. The horizontal plane might suggest the geographic extent of the database (through a stylized map or abstract street network), the cylinders are merely placeholders for the symbolic representation of the types of data contained in the database and charts on the back and side planes are meant to convey the statistical nature of the database.
Icons on the landscape should conceptually represent "manufacturing", "retail", "transportation", "office activity/banking", and "business services".
