Logo Design Brief
We need a logo design for a start-up company called Petram Measurements. Petram means "rock" in Latin. We will be doing 3D laser surveying of open pit mines and active landfills, as well as measuring stockpiles of coal, sand, and rock. Our market is coast to coast primarily in the southern half of the United States, although we are open to the global mining market. We will use the logo on our hard hats, work shirts, and business cards. Surveying, Engineering, Mining, and Technology would all be accurate descriptions of our field of work. We use laser scanners mounted on trucks or tripods and point cloud processing software as the tools of our trade.
Our primary values are: Honesty, Courage, Generosity, and Ardent Proactivity. Our aim is to produce highly accurate reports swiftly and with joy. We enjoy the work that we do, we have a simple structure, are easy to work with and always have our eyes and hearts wide open to new opportunities. Our "feel" is a strong, confident handshake and a warm smile.
We are wide open on design, the company name can be incorporated in the design, but it doesn't have to be. You can use the whole name, just the word Petram, or simply the letter P. We have no preference other than variety and after browsing this site are excited to see what you come up with.
As a starting point, we like the following colors individually: green, red, brown, and blue. Do not feel limited to just those colors or even a single color.

We were going to make a decision today (6/21/12) but got some more time. We will now pick the final design on Monday June 25th as we have to make business cards that afternoon. Good luck. Thanks for all the great designs.

Would like to see some Logo concepts similar to the cement company Holcim's logo. Also some circular logos. Maybe some symmetrical logos with a dash of asymmetry. Thanks to all who have submitted so far.
