Logo Design Brief

We need a new logo design to visually link the core technology to the corporate identity. This is a new development (disruptive technology) for basic marine propulsion which brings Pelton Wheel efficiency to the traditional paddle wheel. The result is safe and efficient tangential drive for all categories of boats and ships. I want "Splash Propulsion" to be the main thrust but also want to claim the technology by attaching my name "Ekhoff" somehow (Patent Pending). This technology replaces the screw propeller in it's various forms. It works just like when you cup your hand to splash a friend in the pool. The movement of your hand efficiently generates a high speed jet of water which has thrust. Should be easy to identify at a distance and feel empowering.

Good work so far. Wish I had provided clearer direction but have posted more photos of the technology. This is a paddle wheel with attitude. Maybe now that you better see what is happening in the real world you can do a better job of capturing the essence. Also note that my initials are "ESP". You might be able to do something with that.

Requirements
Must have
  • Strong product identification and visually relate to functionality. Blue is primary color (water). Good contrast and be able to be stitched in thread on clothing. This is a cupped wheel that rolls ON the water: not a propeller that swims through it. This will do for a boat what the wheel did for the car.
Nice to have
  • Would like to be used both with and without the "Ekhoff" association.
I really like my 'first attempt' pencil sketch (really, it was the first and only attempt) and others think it captures the essence. I am however open to suggestions as this is a big deal and I want to get it right.
