Logo Design Brief

We need a logo design for an educational resource company.
The Business is called Qreative Learning Resources, Inc.
If "Qreative" is in the logo, we want it spelled as 'Qreat!ve'.
The QLR should be stylized.
We have attached a basic concept drawing we were playing with.
A few points:
The logo incorporates the QLR.
The tail of the 'Q' is an Exclamation Mark/Point!
We would prefer it be more 'forward' leaning than backward though.
We are open to colour but I originally had Deep purple or Wine and Black.
We have since looked at Black and white only.
But, we are open to suggestions.
The final design should be classy and businesslike...so, """please""" NO school buses, apples, mortar boards/graduation caps, stylized little people leaping about.
We aim at K-12 grades, home schooling BUT ALSO Universities/colleges and Corporate and Government Education projects.

logo might incorporate a stylized Q with the 'tail' as an 'exclamation mark?
We are not married to the original concept drawing and we are NOT fond of the "left-leaning" angle of the letters. We are not designers and so are open to all suggestions.
