Logo Design Brief

I need a logo designed for Juenemann Eyecare, a new optometry practice that I recently took over in a rural Kansas community. We provide comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages, including routine eye exams, glasses and contact lenses, as well as diagnosis and management of ocular disease.
Although the practice is located in a smaller rural community, I do not want the branding to feel overly rural, rustic, or old-fashioned. I would like the identity to feel fresh, modern, professional, welcoming, and established, something that could represent the practice for many years.
I am particularly interested in concepts that creatively incorporate the letter “J” into the logo, potentially combined with an eye or vision related element. However, designers should feel free to explore other original concepts related to optometry or vision if they believe they can create something stronger.
I am attaching a logo concept that I currently like as a reference. I especially like the way the “J” is incorporated into the eye, the simplicity of the design, and the overall color palette. I am not asking for this design to simply be copied or recreated. I would like to see designers either:
- refine or improve upon this general direction,
- create different interpretations of the J/eye concept, or
- develop completely new concepts that may be even stronger.
The logo should be memorable, distinctive, clean, and easy to recognize. It is important that it also works well in practical applications such as office signage, T-shirts/apparel, embroidery, business cards, website/social media, printed materials, and other marketing. Because of this, I prefer a relatively clean design rather than something extremely detailed or complicated.
My preferred color palette is a combination of sandy gold / desert gold / muted gold with dark charcoal or black. I am open to other color ideas, but generally prefer earthy, neutral, sophisticated colors rather than bright or highly saturated colors.
I would like to avoid logos that feel cartoonish, overly flashy, overly luxurious, or like generic medical/optometry clip art. I want something that feels unique to Juenemann Eyecare.
