Flyer Design Brief

We are a new company in the board game space. We developing games built on emotional commerce, nostalgia, and hyper-personalized gifting.

Product: A nostalgic gift product that evokes warm memories of a destination. Think of it as a horizontal postcard (you are just designing the cover, there will be a game within).
Design is of critical importance, as it will be found on gift shop shelves and must “pop” visually for the casual shopper.
Must accurately represent the location - including colors that reflect the vibe of the destination. The design must have a look and feel that is consistent across multiple cities/destinations (i.e. New Orleans, Nashville, New York City) so that they are all recognizably part of the same brand family.
For the project, you are designing 2 “postcards” - up to 3 different concepts.
1. Seaside, Florida and
2. Washington, DC

Bold, simplified shapes — landscapes are reduced to essential forms rather than detailed realism.
Limited color palettes — typically 3–6 carefully chosen colors with strong contrast.
Flat color fields — little to no gradients; colors are often solid and graphic.
Strong silhouettes — mountains, trees, cliffs, bridges, and buildings are depicted as iconic shapes.
Vector-like precision — clean edges and crisp geometry.
High visual hierarchy — viewers immediately recognize the subject from a distance.

Ideally, common compositional elements include:
A single dominant landmark or landscape feature.
Layered foreground, middle ground, and background shapes.
Strong use of negative space.
Simplified skies and water.
Minimal text, usually a clean sans-serif typeface.
