Logo Design Brief

Calliper Advisory is a startup specialist risk advisory firm working with executives and boards at organisations in high-consequence industries (mining, agriculture, rail, infrastructure, energy, education, healthcare). Our draft tagline is “Measure what matters, act with confidence”. The business name is deliberately chosen: a calliper is a precision measurement instrument used to measure things that are difficult to measure accurately with the naked eye - and that is exactly what we do for risk. We help boards and executives in big organisation to measure and understand their risk exposure with a level of precision and clarity that standard processes cannot deliver. Our business has a consulting arm providing advice to companies, and we're also developing a SAAS app that companies will be able to use in addition to our consulting.
The logo should feel authoritative, precise, and credible at board and executive level. Not corporate in a generic way, but genuinely professional and considered. The primary audience is CEOs, CFOs, COOs, Directors, Vice-Presidents, general managers, non-executive directors, and board members at medium-to-large organisations. It needs to work (or have versions that work) at small sizes (email signature, LinkedIn profile photo, favicon) as well as large (letterhead, presentation cover page, PDF report header).
We would like to see concepts that engage thoughtfully with the calliper instrument as a visual element, but in an abstract manner. Whether that is a stylised abstraction of the calliper's jaws and measuring points, a monogram that echoes the curved form of a calliper, or a mark that implies precision measurement in a more conceptual way. We are not looking for a literal technical drawing of a calliper - the reference should be elegant, abstract, modern, and intelligent rather than illustrative.
Preferred colour direction is deep navy or charcoal as the primary, with a single precise accent colour. Currently selected brand colours are primary navy #1A244E, accent teal #0F6E56, and third highlight amber #E8A020. Open to suggestions on these colours. Typography should be clean, geometric, and modern - implying rigour without coldness. Please avoid gradients, drop shadows, and anything that reads as generic professional services. The name should appear as "Calliper" or "Calliper Advisory" in the logotype. A standalone icon or mark that works independently of the wordmark would be a strong advantage.
