Hi, what type of logo and style you are after? Is there any preferred color or color scheme? Maybe you have some companies/logos in mind that you like? Where the logo will be used? We initially left the canvas blank to see what people would come up with given no input besides the bare minimum. Now that we have seen some of the ideas, we have a direction to go in:
We would like something with a parrot, rather than any skull-and-crossbones type of imagery. Something family-friendly without being too cutesy or childish.
We would like it to be colorful. We don't have any specific colors in mind, but nothing too drab.
The logo will be used on our website, on business cards, on apparel, on our trucks, invoices, letterhead, etc.
We have never used this service before and didn't know what to expect; I would like to thank everyone for their submissions. It is a little overwhelming to see so many responses. I will comment on some of them as time allows to steer the design process.

I have removed most of the skull-and-crossbones entries and will try to say what I like about what remains as time allows. We are now looking for something colorful, probably with a parrot. I am overwhelmed by the response and feel like a teacher who teaches five classes and all of them turned in essays, and now I have to read them, grade them, and add thoughtful comments.

OK, we have looked at the ideas coming in and after eliminating some of them, have noticed some commonality among the ones that are getting eliminated. Here are some more guidelines for future ideas:

We already mentioned that now we would like a parrot, not a pirate or skull and crossbones.
There are many featuring a ball wearing a tricorn hat; most of those are being eliminated.
Some are too similar to the Stern Pinball logo, which is a flipper shape and is red, white, and black. We have to eliminate those.
Typography:
Lots of these have flippers for the letter I; and those always feel forced. I'm not saying it can't be made to work, but they generally come off kind of clunky.
Our current "logo", if you could even call it that, has a typeface that is appropriately piratey but is too hard to read. We'd like something that fits the theme in some way, but that reads better. A lot of the ones with script seem like a baseball team's logo. I'm not saying not to use script, but it seems like more of a challenge to make it feel piratey. We will probably end up with something with serifs, I guess. A few of these look like the logo for an evil tech company in a 90s movie.

In the interest of culling the herd some, we are eliminating most submissions with variations on a steel ball wearing a tricorn pirate hat. This is partly because we are thinking we would like something with a parrot, and partly because they tend to end up with a limited color pallette, and mostly because there are many of them but none really stand out.
