Poster Design Brief
We need a poster for our movie. We have two ideas for our
film, which we will post below. However, feel free to be creative and have fun. IF you have a better idea, go for it!
Here is a synopsis of the movie:
In the heart of New Orleans, fading influencer Wanda enters
the crumbling estate of a legendary ghost doctor, seeking fortune and fame. But the house harbors dark secrets, and its new owner, Tak, is a man consumed by grief and forbidden rituals to resurrect his lost wife. As Hungry Ghost Month approaches, the veil between the living and the dead grows thin, and the house becomes a battleground of obsession and ambition. Tak’s descent into madness transforms him into a modern day Asian-inspired spiritual Dr. Frankenstein, while Wanda’s greed pulls her deeper into the estate’s malevolent grip. A haunting tale of grief and forbidden power, Hungry Ghost Month explores the devastating price of tampering with life and death.
Idea 1:
We have the lower half of Wanda’s face, showing off her sexy
red lips half opened, ready to devour a big juicy piece of Char Siew held towards her mouth on a pair of chopsticks that her hands/fingers are holding. Meaning she’s about to feed herself that piece of Char Siew.
There’s steam drifting from the char siew.
In the lower half of the poster are the “gates of hell”
opened. The gates are in a design that western audiences relate to. ç not 100% sold on this, only do this if it isn’t cheesy.
In the foreground are the words “Hungry Ghost Month” in
spooky fonts. And somewhere on the poster is the tagline “You Are What You Eat.”

Changes to be made: I don’t like the fonts, need the char siew to be bigger and in the shape of Louisiana, need the hand to belong to Wanda (who is also the face), and Wanda’s mouth to be opened wider.
Also need the gates to be scarier and perhaps somewhere on
the poster to feature the Chinese words 餓鬼月
Idea 2, for an alternate poster:
Imagine a close-up of a beautifully presented plate of
glistening char siew, perhaps with a single artfully placed garnish.
But look closer, and the char siew is designed to resemble
the shape of a dead Chinese woman laid out as char siew (let’s have the designer be creative about this part).
A pair of chopsticks are poised to pick up a piece, but they
are unnervingly elegant, almost skeletal. (OR they are skeletal hands) In the background are a white woman’s evil
eyes, ready to feast on the char siew.
It should feel like she’s emerging from behind the table and
her chopsticks are about to pick up a piece of char siew. The vibe is overall dark and moody, with just a hint of an ominous glow.
The file title “Hungry Ghost Month” is creatively in the
foreground, as well as the tagline “You Are What You Eat”.

Changes to be made:
The char siew needs to resemble a dead Chinese woman as
described above (please be creative about it).
The woman in the background need to be Wanda (specifically
the actress Vanessa’s eyes and upper half of her face) and some of her face to emerge around the background like she’s ready to pick up the char siew with the chopsticks in the next couple of seconds.
Don’t like the fonts. Need something scarier.
