Logo Design Brief
We currently have two logos — one for our association and one for our competitive team (the Leafs). At the moment, the two logos don’t feel cohesive and don’t pair well together. Over the years, different versions of the Leafs logo have been made by simply adding the word “Leafs,” but the results haven’t been consistent or well executed.
It’s important to note that all FFGWHA players use the association logo, while only some players are part of the Leafs competitive program. Because of this, the association logo should be the primary identity and the “star” of our branding, with the Leafs logo designed to complement and work alongside it.
We’d like to accomplish the following:
Unified Look: Create a refreshed association logo and a Leafs logo that work well together as part of the same brand family.
Leaf Element: Keep the leaf design that’s part of our current look, but update it to be cleaner, more versatile, and easier to reproduce on apparel and promotional materials.
Team Identity: Incorporate either “FFGWHA Leafs” or “Fort Frances Leafs” into the competitive team logo in a professional, polished way.
Alternate Version: Develop an additional wordmark-style logo that uses just the text.
Association Update: Modernize and update the association logo so it complements the Leafs branding while remaining the main representation of FFGWHA as a whole. While not a requirement, I am partial to a version that includes a flaming puck as part of the association logo.
We’ve attached the current association logo, the previous version, and several iterations of the Leafs logo to provide context.
