Free peer grief support in Santa Fe and Surrounding communities.

Bilingual support for children and adults who are grieving the death of separation of a loved one.

"Gerard’s House gave my grandchildren life again. My grandson now draws rainbows instead of coffins."

Mission statement: Gerard's House is a safe place for grieving children, teens and families, where healing happens through acceptance and peer support.

New Mexico is currently ranked the second highest in childhood bereavement. 1 in 7 children will experience the death of a parent or sibling by the age of 18.

Anticipatory grief is the kind of grief we feel before a loss actually happens. It can be confusing because we're feeling the pain of things already changing while also worrying about what might come next.
Ambiguous loss is a kind of grief that’s hard to name. Because there’s no clear ending or closure, it often gets overlooked or dismissed.

It can look like:
Someone is physically gone but still deeply present in your heart (like a loved one who’s missing, deported, in prison, or was adopted)
Or someone is physically here but not really ‘there’ (like with dementia, addiction, mental illness, or emotional distance)"

What is grief? All the things we think, do, and feel after we’ve lost someone or something important
