Logo Design Brief

We are seeking a new logo for Christ Presbyterian Church in Nashua, NH that is clean, simple, and theologically rich—capturing our identity as a Christ-centered, rooted, and kingdom-reflecting church.

This logo will be used across our website, signage, printed materials, and digital media. It should be adaptable for both color and black/white formats.
We are rooted in Christ, reflecting His kingdom. Our values emphasize a strong biblical foundation, joyful worship, transformative discipleship, prayerful dependence on God, and living together as a covenant family on mission.

Visual Style Preferences:

Avoid fantasy or overly stylized artwork.

We appreciate clean, modern, and organic designs.

We like the cross/tree/roots motif, especially when the cross appears organically within a tree or rooted image (see attached examples).

The first logo (uploaded) with a simple rooted cross is closer to our desired aesthetic than the more fantasy-like second one.

The tree can be used but should not appear enchanted or unreal.

Please avoid ornate gothic fonts; we prefer clean, legible serif or sans-serif fonts that convey reverence and clarity.

Theological Emphasis:

Christ is central.

We are “rooted in Christ” – symbolized visually by the cross/tree with roots.

We reflect God’s redemptive kingdom – pointing to both local mission and eternal hope.

Target Market(s)

We want a logo that resonates with a broad cross-section of people—young families, spiritual seekers, mature believers, and newcomers—communicating that Christ Presbyterian Church is a rooted, Christ-centered, gospel-proclaiming community, both theologically serious and warmly welcoming.

Motto: “Rooted in Christ, Reflecting His Kingdom” Christian Cross: Clearly present, ideally integrated with the tree/roots image. Tree and Roots Symbolism: Should show organic life, growth, and spiritual grounding—not stylized fantasy. Font Style: Clean, legible serif or sans-serif. Avoid gothic, whimsical, or script fonts. Scalability: Must work in color and black & white, and in both large and small applications. Tone: The logo should reflect reverence, hope, and warmth, consistent with our mission and Reformed theology.

• We’re open to creative direction, but we would love to see some of the following symbolic and visual concepts explored: 1. Cross + Tree + Roots A cross that is integrated into or emerges from a tree (symbolizing life, growth, and rootedness in Christ). Roots clearly visible—conveying the theme of being “Rooted in Christ.” Prefer organic, natural shapes—not mystical or fantasy-style. The tree could either form the cross, or the cross could be standing with roots beneath—symbolizing both spiritual depth and the life-giving work of Christ. 2. Modern Simplicity Clean lines, minimal clutter—logos that are recognizable, versatile, and scalable (able to be embroidered, printed, or used digitally). Prefer flat design or light shading rather than 3D or heavily stylized effects. Balanced typefaces: classic but readable serif or sans-serif fonts that suggest reverence and clarity (nothing whimsical or script-like). 3. A Sense of Mission and Kingdom Reflection Visual cues that subtly suggest growth, outreach, or reflection, tying into our motto: “Rooted in Christ, Reflecting His Kingdom.” This could include a light motif, a branching effect, or design symmetry that reflects the idea of God’s kingdom expanding through His people. 4. Theological Symbolism Welcome Subtle incorporation of Trinitarian elements, if tasteful (e.g., tripartite structure, subtle use of three branches or roots). We're open to symbols that echo covenantal or redemptive themes—but these must be secondary and integrated without cluttering the main focus.

Should not have

• No fantasy or overly embellished designs. No gothic or overly decorative fonts. Avoid making the tree look magical or mythical (e.g., glowing, spiraling, floating). Avoid clichéd clip-art style imagery or icons common in generic church logos.
