I want the top or the header, as I call it, to be substantial in design. I want it to stand out on its own as a masterpiece. The body or content area with the lighter shades of color with more subtle shapes and colors. Accents of the logo colors. The bottom part lest design than the header but related. Just not as dynamic. I like banners, boarders, and things to accent the overall design. They bring interest to the page.

Please, no photos in or attached to the Header part of the design. I want the elements of the design to stand alone.

I sent some examples of how the logo, registration name, and the buttons go together on the top in the header. I want the header to be separated from the body of the template. These examples are plain and not what I want, but it will give you some ideas of the size the header should be to do all the designs in. The Examples are just boxes as well. I ask for color, texture, and pattern to enhance the depth of the design rather than flat like many of the examples. I am looking for a dynamic design that looks elegant with the textures of modern vintage and retro. If borders and shadows, and damask with pattern help enhance the design, all the better.

I am going to put up the old design. I will use the template for the database and maybe it will give you some other ideas of the headers. Of the old one I like how the banner isn't just a banner that wraps the top like a ribbon. But all the buttons, Logo, and design are together. I don't like the body of the template. Too old looking. Not fresh and bright. I want the header to be the project. The rest can come after a design for the header that stands out enough has been achieved.

I see many neat header designs but nothing that I would choose as better than the old one. I like the old header size, layout and the textured flag that the logo sits on. The shadow behind it almost makes it seem like it is floating. I like that. I would like ideas for the background in the header, and body colors to match it. If I can't find a better design then maybe we can try to fix up the old one with similar but better design.
New goal: Work with the old design to improve the body. It is way to old. I want a more modern texture feel. I like some of your examples with the light paper or the pinstripes I sent. I can send the coding to it through dropbox. But where can I send it on here?

I have just updated the brief. We will work with the old design. I listed all the keeps and things I think can be improved upon. many of you have nice backgrounds for the content area. Nice whites and off-whites with nice textures. Let's try to match that with header designs similar to the old one. I mentioned that the flag in the header with the logo on will stay the same. The backdrop colors match the flag but just seem too harsh with the damask. Open to another header backdrop with another damask pattern and softer grunge layer with similar colors. This is the depth of texture, pattern, and color I was hoping for in the first part of the challenge. White or off-white body with texture to give the same depth as the header. Modern vintage.
