Book cover (Front cover will double as ebook cover). Design should be blue and gray in theme, with some gold coloring, depicting a concept F-14E Advanced Super Tomcat in flight, seen from the upper, forward left quarter. A second plane in formation should be visible in the background. Both aircraft should be armed with concept AIM-152 missiles and external fuel tanks.
The aircraft's nose number should be 100. The jet should be a dark gray color with black canopy rails and tail. The carrier should be listed as USS Hornet, and the squadron as VF-6. The tail should depict a fierce tiger's head in gold, with red eyes. Existing pictures of F-14 aircraft can be used as a reference for placement of the above mentioned labels.
The rear cover should look similar to R.G. Smith's art piece "Enterprise on Yankee Station", except depicting a Nimitz Class Carrier and the aircraft overhead should be additional concept F-14E Advanced Super Tomcats. This should dominate the bottom third of the cover to leave room for text in the upper two thirds. The title of the book is "Black Tiger" with the subtitle "A novel of slightly alternate history", and should appear in the top of the front cover. Author's name is Brian J Smith and should appear near the bottom of the front cover. A window for the ISBN bar code should be left on the bottom of the back cover.
Creative variations on what I've described will be considered, but not anything radically different.
