Logo Design Brief

I need a logo for the Montana High School Rodeo assocation. Attached is a picture of the current logo which needs a facelift or a new design altogether. The design needs to include the shape of the state of Montana, with bold, dynamic text. Overtly western font is NOT wanted. This is a sports association logo. It could have a bucking horse included in the design, but no rope or lariat borders or anything of the sort. We want this to be a modern, updated design. Preferably 2 or 3 colors.

I am also attaching a few other examples of logos that I like.
