Character Design Brief
We specialize in creating new glow-in-the-dark toys for kids and we'd like to design a stuffed animal toy using glow-in-the-dark fabric. The glow fabric is activated by a light pen so kids can "draw" designs on their plush toy in the dark. The light causes the fabric to glow green, which fades over a few minutes, so kids can draw again and again.
We want a design for this plush animal that kids will want to hug and snuggle with, and also provides a good surface for drawing with the light pen. The dimensions should be appx 50 cm long and 15 cm wide. Please see the attached 'inspiration images' file for example plushes of this shape. We want a custom look for our plush, so not something exactly like what is commercially available for long body stuffed animals currently.
Please do any animal design you feel works best. We don't have a specific animal that it needs to be. For colors, we have glow fabric in six shades: white, light pink, dark pink, light yellow, light green, and blue/white star pattern. We're interested in designs that use a combination of these colors. The design MUST include at least a small area that uses the blue/white star pattern. This fabric is especially fun because only the stars glow green when activated by light (so kids can 'color in' the stars using the light pen). However the blue/white star pattern should not be the main body fabric. The belly of the animal should be white.
For the winning design we will need 3 views of the plush (front/side/back) to send to our manufacturer for production. Thank you and please reach out with any questions!
Updates
We decided to extend the project deadline to allow for more submissions. The designs we received in the first round were good but occasionally didn't fit our requirements.
We're hoping in the next few days to land on a winning design that maintains appeal to young children while being unique and creative. The design must also work for its intended purpose, which is so that kids can draw doodles all over the animal using a light pen. Because of that, the animal should be able to lie flat on its back and have some interesting areas to doodle on (all the fabrics/colors we use in the plush will glow in the dark). To appeal to young kids, please make the expression of the animal friendly. So that it can be manufactured at a reasonable cost, please don't go overboard on the level of detail (eg, we probably can't make 30 spines on a stegosaurus, but we could do 3).
