Tattoo Design Brief
I found this tattoo online that I really like and would like to recreate it with a few changes:
1. In place of the large 'VII' on the chest, replace with MDCCLXXV (same large font)
2. Centered below the MDCCLXXV and in half the font size:
MCMLXXXV - MCMLXXXIX
MCMXCI
MCMXCV - MCMXCIX
3. Replace the latin wording above the "VII" numerals with:
Semper Fidelis
4. Looking to replicate an old world nautical map as depicted on the tattoo.
5. If possible, incorporate the island of Okinawa, along with the USMC division logo (3rd Marine Division) as attached.
6. Would also love something similar to the masted ship (also on the Okinawa attachment) somewhere on the tattoo with the lettering (curved above the ship): USS NASSAU and the lettering (curved below the ship): LHA-4
7. If possible, the attached Eagle, Globe and Anchor on the elbow.
8. If possible, the outline of the East Coast of the US with a 2nd Marine Division Logo superimposed, similar to attached.
9. If possible, the outline of California with a 1st Marine Air Wing logo similar to attached.
10. I like the shading (rays of light?) coming off the shoulder and onto the chest, so if you could keep that part of the tattoo, that would be great as well.
Update on 1/5/24:
Just uploaded 3 pictures of tattoos that exemplify the look that I'm trying to achieve. Unfortunately, I don't have a close up/side picture of the original tattoo that I uploaded, so I found these three that represent my vision. I'm looking for an 'old-world nautical map' look, where the map is the main focal point, not the Marine Division symbols. The hope is that the map unfolds from my shoulder and wraps around my whole arm, like a piece of parchment paper/old world nautical map. My vision was to have the military symbols slightly overlaying a corner of the state/island where I was stationed (as outlined above), with the symbol smaller than the state island, maybe like 1/4 inch square (give or take). I really like the old fashioned compass rose on the attached female tattoo at the top of her shoulder. I was thinking that with the compass rose at the top of the shoulder, the map would unfold below it wrapping around my whole arm. I found a sample of 'Semper Fidelis' (attached) that I like and would like to have it a couple of spaces above the roman numerals and slightly offset to the right (as you look at it, moving toward the shoulder). And finally, for a little splash of color, maybe keep the military division symbols in their original color scheme (as attached).
