Logo Design Brief

SmartGroups App/Company Info

SmartGroups is an innovative iOS and Android app for churches worldwide developed by a startup company in New York. It is specifically for small group ministries.

Important background knowledge (if you're not familiar with small group ministries of churches):

Many large churches around the world have small groups (typically about 10 people in each group) that meet in homes. They may call these groups "cell groups", or "discipleship groups" or "Bible study groups", or "life groups", or simply "small groups", but the basic purpose is the same: small group fellowship and Bible-based discipleship.

Typically a small group meeting will include some introductory ice breaker time, singing songs to God together, some Bible study with group discussion about how to apply it to their lives, giving thanks to God, open sharing about each other's problems and challenges, and praying for each other. The main purpose is to build community among a small group of believers to help each other follow God more in their lives.

The SmartGroups app makes it easier and more fun to lead or participate in a small group! It guides the leader and the members through the in-person small group meetings by keeping everyone literally "on the same page" of the Bible, the song lyrics, etc., and guides them in gathering the prayer requests and actually praying for each other, etc. It also helps build community by keeping the members of each small group connected with each other throughout the week with their prayer requests, photo sharing, etc., and even lets them review what they studied in the meeting.

Color Scheme

The new logo should keep or match the same color scheme that you see on the website.

The color palette used on the SmartGroups website is a “warm authentic color scheme” consisting of the following colors:

It is not necessary or even expected that you use every color in the logo, and slight deviations from these colors may be acceptable as well. (Or if you feel the need to do something different, feel free to ask.)



Deliverables

The logo should be both an icon and text, and the icon part of the logo should also be suitable and attractive as an app icon (for Android and iOS). So, to be clear, the deliverables are:

The app icon version (matching the website color scheme as described above)
The full logo version (graphical text with the icon on the left or above or within the text)

The most important, and what you should focus on, is the app icon version.

YOU ARE WELCOME TO SUBMIT ONLY THE APP ICON VERSION first, and then if we want yours to go on to the finalists, you can then submit the full logo with icon and text.



Logo Concept

We would like to leave the concept up to the designer, but no text-only logos please. The most important part is the icon part, which should convey what the app is or what it does, and that icon part should be able to stand alone as an app icon.
