Card Design Brief

I am seeking a design for a physical card to communicate my wife's health-related dietary restriction regarding seed oils. This card will be given to restaurant waiters to ensure her meals are prepared without seed oils, as it is a health issue and not merely a preference.

My wife cannot eat any “seed oil” or “processed oil”, including:
- Vegetable oil
- Canola oil
- Soybean oil
- Sunflower oil
- Corn oil
- Cottonseed oil
- Safflower oil
- Peanut oil
- Sesame oil

Oils that are OK for her to consume:
- Butter (most preferable)
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Avocado oil
- Coconut oil
- Ghee
- Lard
- Any other animal-based fats

Key Design Requirements:

- Clarity and speed of communication: The card should be easily read and understood by waiters, even in low-light environments, emphasizing that it's a health concern.
- Avoid common misconceptions: Ensure the design doesn't imply common dietary preferences like "vegetarian" or "no butter." Animal fats and butter are actually preferable for her!
- Preferred term: Use "seed oils" as the term to describe what she cannot eat due to her health issue.
- Trace amounts are acceptable: Communicate that it's OK to use cookware that has previously been in contact with seed oils, but not to have seed oil as an ingredient. Please suggest a concise way to convey this.
- Card dimensions: Design should be 3.5” x 2.25” (standard credit-card size on vistaprint.com). Horizontal or vertical layouts are both fine, whichever makes the message clearer.

Design Suggestions:

- Utilize bold and easy-to-read typography to communicate the main message.
- Consider incorporating relevant icons or graphics that help convey the message without adding confusion.
- Use contrasting colors to enhance readability, especially in low-light situations.
- To communicate the “trace amounts OK” part, consider phrases such as:
- "Cross-contamination acceptable"
- “Used cookware OK, no ingredient use”
- “Separate cookware not necessary”

Thank you for your assistance in creating this essential card for my wife's health and safety when dining out!
