Logo Design Brief

I have an idea in mind, but I need the expertise of a professional. We are a small, independent real estate company located on a little Island in the Panhandle of Florida. I want it to be a combination of a classical/traditional financial/real estate brand but not stuffy. I definitely DON'T want palm trees, jumping dolphins, boats, a lighthouse or anything cheesy. I've uploaded a .pdf of the competitors I have on the Island, other companies throughout the country named "Resort Realty" and three others I find attractive. Specifically, I like the "Perdido Key" concept where the location of the company, "St. George Island" is above and larger than "Resort Realty." The "Dietmar Kilian" logo is interesting because of the rooflines. For our logo, the rooflines would need to be designed in a way that reflects the Island's character. For instance, at least one would need to have a widow's walk. You can search for images of St. George Island to see the types of houses there. Does that make sense? I'd like to use a blue somewhere around a pantone 300 blue, although I am not 100% committed to it. Finally, although the name of the company has "of" in it, it is not required to be in the logo.
