Logo Design Brief

Company specialized in chemical synthesis. Perceived as being virtuosos of chemistry, seeing chemistry as an art form, elegant and artistic with scientific undertones. The logo I've attached is an example of a possible idea but not definitive. I'm open to alternative styles. Purples, dark neutrals, and perhaps orange or another accenting colour would be nice... but again, open to ideas.
