Logo Design Brief

I am looking to great a logo for my personal boat, which is named the "Blue Ghost". I'd like to use the logo for clothing and other items that I can get made (t-shirts, hoodies, hats, drink cups, etc). I'd like to leverage the attached patch, which is from the Vietnam era and one that is eye catching. We could use a variation on that design and I welcome new design ideas as well.
