Logo Design Brief

I need a logo design for my new electrical company called 'H. Irwin Electrical'. I will be concentrating on commercial and domestic installs and hoping to incorporate new tech in home automation, renewables, solar and battery back up. I am hoping to have a design that is bold and clean but new age, using minimal colour's or black and white. I had a friend make up a logo attached below that I was sort of aiming for but hasn't turned out exactly how I'd like it, so hoping for something more creative and eye catching. Thanks
