Poster Design Brief
I need a one sheet poster designed for an upcoming horror anthology film called 'Seasons.' It will be used for a DVD cover and/or a poster. There are 4 stories. Each one is set at a different time of the year.
The first (Harvest), set in Spring, is a 'body horror' tale in which a man at a gardening club is consumed by vegetables from the inside, which burst from his face, body etc, and ultimately he becomes a mass of vegetables.
In the second (Red Tide), set in Summer, a solar eclipse turns the sand on a private beach deadly hot, trapping three people on the burning sand, cooking two to a crisp.
In the third (Christmas Hell), an adulterous woman trapped in her house on a cold Christmas night, has to fight for her life against a tall, skinny 'enforcer' for Santa Claus, with hollow eyes, and dressed in a dirty black and grey Santa suit. He is determined to punish her for being naughty.
In the last (10/31/01), two male teenage friends on BMX bikes must outrun a deadly teenage werewolf on a BMX, on their way to a Halloween party.
The four stories are linked by a central wraparound tale (Think Creepshow 2, Tales from the Crypt), where an old lady on her deathbed in a huge rambling house in the woods, is telling each story to her 9 year old Granddaughter.
As this is a horror anthology , please aim for an 80s EC comics vibe. A retro horror comic book look. A price tag in the top corner e.g. 50c like a comic book. Please try to incorporate imagery for all 4 stories and the wraparound.
Must include:
Title: SEASONS
Tagline: FOUR SPINE-TINGLING TALES OF TERROR
Tagline 2: A Benjamin Swicker film
If I really like the design and want to use it for the poster and DVD cover, I'd like a designer who agrees to make edits to the design in the future, mainly adding cast/crew block text if necessary. I'd also like a designer who can create a matching Facebook page banner/header and thumbnail profile pic.
Nice to have:
To reiterate, a horror comic theme and to be obvious it's a horror film. Please google 'retro horror comics' and 'EC Comics' for ideas. It needs to look like illustrations, not photos. I like the idea of a price tag in the top right corner, like most comic books have. Try to incorporate the seasonal element, e.g. a Jack o' Lantern for 10/31/01 and a Christmas element for Christmas Hell. Feel free to show comic book gore/violence, as the covers of retro horror comics usually do. Decision to include title of each segment at discretion of designer, possibly to be revised later.
I'm unsure how to use the colour sliders. Colours at discretion of designer, or see uploads for general idea.
I've attached a couple of retro horror comic images and an 80's horror movie poster, just to give you an indication of the right kind of vibe.
Should not have:
It should not look cheesy or cheap.
