Logo Design Brief
UPDATE
After the first submissions we needed to revise the whole concept as we weren't getting anything that left us satisfied. This made us rething the brand itself.
Alata (without "h") wants to stimulate the love of reading, of travelling through books or a good story. It also wants to sow the seed of knowledge and tolerance in small children from birth to 6 years old.
It's a multicultural, diverse and tolerant brand.
Updates
After receiving the first submissions we realised we were heading in the wrong direction and needed the weekend to brainstorm on how to restart all our concept (we're in quite different time zones, Portugal and Macao). We now have a new set of guidelines (we changed the brand name a bit and its symbolism) and wanted to change our briefing to see if we can find anything meaningful. Thanks!
Target Market(s)
Parents, especially mothers, of children from 0 to 6.

Nice to have
- UPDATE 23 NOV - new briefing
We would like to see two options:
1) Name based logo where there is a symbol replacing one of the letters. For this option we would like the symbols of trees and/or roots. Eventually other nature symbols if you feel there's something to be added.
2) Name based logo with a frame over it (check attachment "symbol") enclosing a symbol along the same lines: trees and/or roots; eventually other nature symbols if you feel there's something to be added.
FONTS
We're thinking either simple handwritten font (like attachment font2, for example) or sans serif symmetrical caps font (eg: tulip font).
ADDONS
- it would be interesting to see a watercolour-like version of these concepts, eventually featuring some colour.
