Art Design Brief

Etching to be reproduced on invitation. Theme for Infant Mystics 153rd Anniversary is "Sea Tales". There are 11 themed floats. Some of the floats are Moby Dick, Old Man and the Sea, Sirens and Mermaids, The Odyssey, Voyage of the Beagle (Charles Darwin), Sea Monsters, Pirates and Swashbucklers, Ports of Call.... Cats play a predominant role in the imagery of the Infant Mystics. I would like an etching in black and white that appears to be very old 1800s.... The attached image with the ship in the background is along the lines of what I would like. I like the hat and the eye patch. Some of the other cat imagery from older IM invitations are of the style I would like for the face of the cat. The cat's facial expression is important. The cat head that is smiling and has IM 21 is the being made into a broach as a favor. The devious look in that image is what I would like to recreate...possibly with a variation of that same cat...

Target Market(s)

Artwork to be used on invitations to a Mardi Gras ball in Mobile Alabama. Mobile is the home of Mardi Gras and these balls have been around for over 150 years. The attendees will receive these invitations which become collectors items. The artwork has a mystical flair.

Requirements

Must have

• The artwork must be able to be reproduced on high quality invitation paper. If affordable we prefer to engrave the invitations instead of printing. The artwork should have details that do not blur with engraving.

Nice to have

• The artwork should reflect the theme "Sea Tales". The feel should be ancient or antique instead of modern.
