I'm a filmmaker, who as a hobby also reviews films on my private facebook page for my friends. I only review films I really like, so it's only positive talk. After several years, my friends and colleagues are saying I should do it across social media, including youtube. But I don't want to use my name. So I'm creating a brand under which to do it, 'The Third Image', which will be a blog/magazine website/social media feed.
The Third Image describes the abstract and intangible image that appears when editing a film: when one shot is connected to a second shot, there is a third image that appears in between them, something unseen, but felt. Like a phantom. That is the third image. Some film theory suggests a film is actually made up not of the shots you see on screen, but of the hidden images within the cuts, in-between shots. It is this phantom undercurrent I am interested in - the unseen, the felt, the understood but not necessarily immediately known out loud.
A sense of MYSTERY, of MAGIC/ILLUSION, of COOL.
There is a website which isn't drawing much attention so I'm going to rebrand and redesign, but you can get an idea of the style of reviews: https://whattowatch.reviews/
