CD Cover Design Brief

The album is Called "Hurricane". Our vision is a drawing of a girl with big round sunglasses looking at a hurricane or some destruction coming at her. Maybe a tidal wave or any other type of hurricane related destruction. She is cool and calm and just waiting for it to come at her. Maybe she is drinking soda from a straw. In the sunglasses you can see the reflection of the chaos that is coming towards her.

Coming with this description is a very crude mock-up of the idea. We want to have the artist draw this and not use clip art images. The model for the girl is the lead singer for the band (picture included). What is reflected in her sunglasses in the provided mock-up is a drawing of a tidal wave coming at city by the sea that we found in a google search. You can use this idea or any other idea you might come up with that represents chaos and destruction coming at you.

We want you to be creative, take this idea and run with it, we will give you a lot of feedback to guide you along the way.

We will also upload the elements used to make this crude mock-up.

We were thinking for the back cover of this CD to have the the back of the head of this girl with the destruction coming at her. So if you flip the CD cover around, you get to see what she is seeing and the back of her head as she looks at it.

We will also upload an image here that shows an example of the type of style we want. This is an image of a guy with glasses. It is not a realistic type of art, but more abstract.

We will need the artwork to be square for both the front and back covers. We are not sure what to put on the inside left or inside right of the CD yet. We are mainly interested in the front and back cover. Maybe the inside artwork can just be a variation of the outer covers, maybe something similar but muted so we can put text on top of it.

We are including a mock-up of the idea, a sample of the style (the image with the guy with glasses) and the elements used for the mock-up. Our first album cover from our first record and the band logo contains mainly purple colors, we can include an image of the band logo as well so you can see those colors.

* update 1 - We want the girl's hair blowing in the wind to show that a storm is coming. I have just uploaded an image to show this. Do not use the girl's face from the "wind blowing hair" image. Use the face of the girl from the mock-up (our lead singer).

* update 2 - Also we want to perhaps remove the shoulders from the mock-up, or make them smaller or hide them under the hair. That jacket makes her look too bulky.
