Book Cover Design Brief
We need a book cover (front, back, spine) for the 3rd edition of a book entitled 'Business Process Analysis' and subtitled 'including Architecture, Engineering, Management and Maturity'. The author is Geoffrey Darnton. The publisher is Durotriges Press. The finished size of the paperback version will be the industry standard 9" x 6". There will be paperback, hardback, and Kindle versions. The final number of pages is expected to be in the region 300-350 pages. Text for the back cover is not yet available, but at the bottom of the back cover should be publisher logo on the left and space for the ISBN bar code on the right.
The design should be original and not include any stock images that have been created by someone else or may require obtaining a copyright licence to use. Symbols in common use and not copyrighted are probably ok.
There are no required images, photographs or symbols except the publisher logo at the left bottom of the back cover and lower spine. S[ine lettering should be UK/US style with the top of the writing nearest the front cover. The designer is free to be creative using appropriate diagrams, symbols or abstract designs. Rectangular and circular variants of the publisher logo are attached.
I just want to assure designers that when evaluating designs from my perspective, I take absolutely no notice whatsoever of a designer's Design Crowd ranking or status; I am completely output driven, so what matters to me is the design, not the ranking or status of the designer. In a similar way, I do not evaluate designs as 'good' or 'bad' - the winning design will be chosen after review by a design panel.
