I'll be engraving coins (not sure if metal or wood) for a family gift. I made some rough drafts but very open to ideas. Size will be approx. 2" in diameter so that will have to be taken into consideration: thickness of lines and level of proper detail, etc. They should ultimately have the same theme and style.
My advice would be to make "Seven Swans a Swimming" and "Eight Maids-a-Milking" first then make the others. I think they're the style I'm going after.
1. Don't have sketches of the "Partridge in a Pear Tree" but should be a cedar tree of some kind, or a cedar christmas tree. Should say "Peary Tree" not "Pear Tree". No need for a bird maybe a pear? Maybe a pear on top of a Christmas Tree? But not too christmas tree. The family house is on "Cedar Lake"... Might put this logo on t he box of the coins.
2. "Two Turtle Doves" - Google "Home Alone Turtle Doves". Should resemble these. Image attached.
3. Three French Hens - Kinda like the one I did.
4. Four Calling Birds - Not loving the one I did, but could work.
5.Five Gold Rings - Simple, 5 circles. For this one, just put "Golden" in quotes like I did. More than this is fine to match but just have "Golden".
6. Six Geese-a-laying - Open to this one. Seemed like a cool design.
7. Seven Swans-a-swimming: This one most likely will be the most elegant, prettiest one.
8. Eight Maids-a-milking: Should resemble a Polish Doll. Image example of detail attached.
9. Nine Ladies Dancing - Think "The Nutcracker" ballet and the "Sugar Plum Fairy".
10. Lords-A-Leaping: Nutcracker jumping. Kinda like a ballet dancer.
11. Eleven Pipers Piping: Nutcracker playing bagpipes.
12. 12 Drummers Drumming: Nutcracker playing drums.
