Logo Design Brief

I have a logo that I would like to refresh. I want to keep our color scheme. I have uploaded the church logo (maroon and gray). We also like the state of Texas with the cross that looks like an "avenue."

I'd like to use the same logo but add some "life" to it. I want it to reflect "community". Since I am not a graphic designer, I don't know exactly how to explain what I want. I just want the logo to reflect life, community, joy, etc.

I have added two files to our brief.

a sample logo for layout purposes only.

I'd like to see if it is possible to have people surrounding the cross in our logo similar to the file I uploaded. The people don't have to look like that.

Also, I'd like to see a design with a similar layout to the sample key design. Our state logo on the left with our name under the buildings, except put people where the buildings are reflect "community."
