Logo Design Brief

We need a new logo to replace an outdated one. The logo would be used on clothing, binders, paper products, and on the church website.
The group is a brass band from the Salvation Army Church.
We want the logo to be simple, clean and modern. "The Salvation Army" shield logo will already appear on the sleeve of our clothing, we don't need the new band logo to say anything about that affiliation.
I like the idea of just using the 3 letters in a creative way. Tying in an brass instrument bell or a mountain is another idea to ponder.
