Logo Design Brief

We need a logo design for our new website 'Boston Terriers Rock' which is an online community for Boston Terrier owners and fans.

The site also posts regular articles about caring for boston terriers, fun things, products etc.

We are all about finding stylish / chic dog products, natural and eco-friendly food and nutrition, our images have a retro vibe and I'd like that reflected with a bit of fun.

I don't want to have a dog's head in the logo - the focus should be on the name but I'm open to a sketch of a boston terrier as long a it's done in a stylish way not a cartoon and it should not over power the words (it needs to blend more into the background).

The site has a majority female audience but i don't want to exclude males. I don't want anything cutesy.

It really sums up the vibe of the site.

I like the look of recycled paper, old school postal stamps (the ink ones not stick on) but these should only be used if it makes sense.

The current website design is a theme and can be changed so don't feel it has to totally conform.

I will need a version of the image with a transparent background though so I can include it on the existing site.

Feel free to get creative and use the above as a guide for the look and feel - it shouldn't be a literal translation.

Must have

• I'd like the text to be strong to represent the words but it can be softened and playful with other elements.
  
  The word rock should be the focal point if you want to emphasise one of the words (you can have all words the same if it works better).
  
  I want a retro vibe with a touch of vintage. Think Hipster.

  I would much prefer to have the sketch as an outline of the dog and not just the head, the whole body. It doesn't have to be a sketch of that pic but it would be much better to the side as per the brief.
  
  I'd prefer the word 'rock' to be a different font and stand out more as it doesn't make sense to emphasis 'Terriers'.
  
  I'd like to have more of a retro vibe, the swirly things around the logo are a bit too much. I also have colour examples on my pinterest board.
  
  A bit cleaner - something you would wear on a t-shirt.

  You've got the retro part right but it's not quite the feel that I'm after.
  
  I'd like the font to be stronger perhaps with the 'rock' a bit larger and maybe a different font from the other words?
  
  I have example colours on this pinterest board which should help. If it's a badge / stamp style I'd prefer it to be softer so that the name is the focus.
  
  I wouldn't mind having an outline of a boston terrier (sketch) on the side of the logo but not just the head. I'm also happy to leave that out if it doesn't work.

• Dogs head or picture as the focal point. Happy for a subtle sketch to the side or something but not right in the middle.
