Logo Design Brief
Detour House Inc operates Detour House and The Girls Refuge. The Girls Refuge supports young women aged 13-17 who are dealing with complex challenges and homelessness, and Detour House supports women overcoming alcohol and other drug dependency - many of whom are also experiencing homelessness. During their stay with our service, we offer women accessing support a safe and stable home-away-from-home.
We are seeking someone to design a modern-looking logo that better reflects the organisation’s professionalism and integrates well with our existing website design.
Views are that the current logo looks dated, too childish, or akin to something you’d put on a sympathy card, and represents fragility: this is what we want to move away from. We are seeking a complete overhaul in logo!

Requirements
Must have
- The logo should represent strong, tenacious, resilient women. We wish to replace the symbol of a butterfly to another image or logo that is symbolic of strength, empowerment, transition, change, possibility, safety, stability, wellbeing and potential.
Should not have
- Too much playfulness. No butterflies, please!!! Also no incorporation of lettering into design as it will need to be used across two differently named services.
