Logo Design Brief

Can you improve on my existing logo?

I need a new logo to replace an existing one, for a optimistic Sci-Fi project/community I have created, called Space Faring Civilisation AKA SFC.

The SFC project aim is to create and encourage others to create optimistic Sci-Fi content (film, TV, comics, books etc.). The logo is part of the branding of the project and related content/initiative.

Why? The reason for the update is to get something unique , recognisable, and cool that is easily associated with Optimistic Sci-Fi and SFC.

Current logo is attached for your reference, however the use of planet with ring I feel is over used and I'd like something innovative, fresh yet simple enough to go on a T-short or cup. Usually I am NOT a fan of text on logos itself, unless it helps in branding well . So don't put text on logo unless absolutely necessary.

So I'm looking for a talented designer who has experience, or passion , for optimistic sci-fi and/or space exploration. Possible future work for right designer after this project.
