Logo Design Brief

We are a company located in Texas that produces custom leather goods; wallets, mouse pads, purses, keychains, etc.The logo will need to be simple/minimalist and monochrome (black) so that it can be easily burned/stamped onto our leather products. We are open to design ideas but would like something that shows a relation to Texas, leather, or the meaning of "Laird": owner of a large estate (in Scotland), so like a castle or something of the sort.Would like there to be a border around the design and can be incorporated into the design (like the uploaded image). The border shapes in a preferred order would be circle, shield, or square.

The attached image is a jumping off point and I dont want it to like like that necessarily. Need it a little more suffisticated
