Logo Design Brief
This logo is for an online project that is collecting stories from people around the Pacific Ocean about the extinction of plants and animals, what this means to them, and why it matters.Key themes for the site are: plants and animals, stories, islands, oceans, extinction.Logo focus: We would like the central component of the logo to be a tree snail, or a snail shell. These kinds of snails are found widely across the Pacific—many are already extinct and others are endangered. These snails look different to common garden snails. A few photos of these kinds of snails are available here for reference and inspiration: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/g6rx53oh5gi3aoc/AAB14CQ7qSPQoTpnGbJaeqxca?dl=0.Other elements in the logo might include: mountains, vegetation, islands. Colours: We would like the logo to be quite simple in terms of colour, either black and white, or using another one or two colours only.Text: We would like a logo that can be used with and without the name of the project. “The Living Archive of Extinction Stories from Oceania.” The project is sometimes just referred to as “The Living Archive”, so it would be nice if this text could be more prominent (larger, darker?) than the rest of the title.Style: We would like a logo that is more creative and arty than corporate. It should be eye-catching and distinctive, but our main audiences are community members, artists, storytellers, Indigenous cultural practitioners, museums, etc.
