Research & drug development company discovering treatment for ALS & other neurodegenerative disease
Need a logo design for a startup company doing research to identify molecules that can be developed into a significant ALS treatment / cure.
Founders of the companies are based out of the US and Western Australia. We would like to highlight the “WA“ in the word swan to signify importance of research being conducted out of that area. Though Black Swan is a US company, the primary research is currently being done in Perth, WA.
ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. In the USA alone, according to the ALS Association website (ALS.org), “Approximately 6,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with ALS each year” and “It is estimated there are more than 20,000 Americans have the disease at any given time”. Currently, “the life expectancy of a person with ALS averages about two to five years from the time of diagnosis”.
Currently, there is little treatment and no cure.

From Wikipedia: THEORY OF BLACK SWAN
The black swan theory or theory of black swan events is a metaphor that describes an event that comes as a surprise, has a major effect, and is often inappropriately rationalized after the fact with the benefit of hindsight. The term is based on an ancient saying that presumed black swans didm not exist – a saying that became reinterpreted to teach a different lesson after black swans were discovered in the wild.
In 1697, Dutch explorers led by Willem de Vlamingh became the first Europeans to see black swans, in Western Australia.[5] The term subsequently metamorphosed to connote the idea that a perceived impossibility might later be disproven.

Requirements
Nice to have
- Creative way to incorporate the “WA” in the word Swan would be preferable. WA is not meaningful or recognizable to anybody but symbolic to us and to those in the research community in that part of the world. Needs to be subliminal, not explicit - don't want it to appear that WA is our company name or acronym
Should not have
- Please do not use any other words aside from the company name or initials, if any, in the design.
