Logo Design Brief

I need a fun, interesting, professional logo. I take guests on private boat tours that include activities like watching dolphins (most popular), beach shelling, barrier island tours, sightseeing and sunset cruises. You can see my business details at www.aboatday.com. I think my website is a bit too formal and I plan to lighten it up.

In the first round of logo design, most of the designers followed the same style of logo that I already have....a flat, horizontal style logo with simple business-like fonts with art of a boat, a dolphin and/or a sun or birds. Most were too formal, too predictable and are kind of boring like boat charter or boat retail business logos. None stand out as interesting to us.

So we want to try again and see if going a more creative, graphical direction might work. I don't know exactly what I'm going for but I'm going to attach some more fun and interesting logo samples I found on google (please don't copy any of them, they are only for inspiration).

MANY OF THE SAMPLES I ATTACHED LOOK LIKE EMBLEM LOGOS. I THINK WHAT WE LIKE IS THE GRAPHICAL LOOKING FONTS THAT BRING THE LOGO TO LIFE AND MAKE IT INTERESTING AND MEMORABLE. If you already created a flat logos for US, maybe simply try using graphical looking fonts and/or art to liven it up.

People coming to Florida on vacation. Families with kids, couples, groups of friends. Guests charter my boat for birthdays, family fun, bachelorette parties, reunions, etc.

See logo on website for the original logo I've been using. The formal name of the business is "A Boat Day", which is a play off today is not a work day, it's A Boat Day! In the logo you can try to use words like "Captain Randy's", "A Boat Day", "Private", "Boat Tours" , "Dolphin Tours", or any combination. I do all of those things.

Requirements

Must have

• Logo should be appealing to tourists. Fun and interesting, but not silly.

Nice to have

• People tend to see our logo and incorrectly read it as "a-boat-A-day". Not sure why they insert the extra "A", but it's annoying. Try something different than simple horizontal words so it the word Boat stands out so it doesn't get blended and cause people to read a-boat-A-day.
